about the artist

“Even sculpture can be functional as well as beautiful. It can bring you to a moment of pause and reflection; to allow you to find comfort in the small, soft moments of your day and life.”

As a ceramic artist, I work mostly in stoneware. While I am primarily a wheelthrower, I also find inspiration and joy in the organic nature of sculptural handbuilt work.

With roots from rural New England, I now call a quiet, rocky canyon just north of LA home. The canyon is a constant source of inspiration in the neutral color palette, textures and warm tones of the surrounding land. It has inspired me to put my hands in the clay and allow for a conversation with it, following where it leads me.

My current work is influenced by the rock formations and natural wildlife of Southern California and the surrounding deserts of the American Southwest. I also pull inspiration from antique wood, glass, and metal objects and color palettes from interior designs.

I hope these pieces bring a little of this into your own home - a bit of natural warmth and life and the beauty of outside, inside.

about the teacher

“I remember what it was like being a beginner, and it’s hard, so let’s keep it fun and enjoyable. let's get another piece of clay, let's start over. If something goes wrong in the beginning, Great! you just learned something.”

"You’re a very patient teacher” is what I hear from my pottery students all the time.

I’m here to teach you pottery, yes, but I’m also here to let you know that starting out can be a challenge. But all those feelings you're feeling are normal, all the mistakes you're making are normal, it's gonna take a long time for you to feel comfortable with this. And I'm here to guide you.

I bring my 13+ years of working in clay, along with a BA and Masters Degree in Art History, into my work as well as my classes - which I’ve been teaching since 2018.

If you’re ready to take an in-person class, I currently teach in Los Angeles at The Pottery Studio Sherman Oaks, and I’d love for you to join me. You can find more information here:
