2022 Gift Guide: under $50

The sweet spot for gift giving! Perfect gifts for your pottery-obsessed friends, studio-mates, partners, and family. I own every item on this list and can vouch for them all!

Spinner Tool w/ Plexiglass Disc $32 - A wonderfully handy tool for when you need a bit of pressure holding down your pot while trimming. Its one of those tools that you’re happy you have when you need it. The plexiglass also has measuring lines and can help distribute pressure.

The Handbuilt Potter $19 - This book by Melissa Weiss is a treasure trove of how-to’s, tips, and designs. Her work is so unique, and this book feels very different than other Handbuilding books I’ve read.

Ito Bindery Drawing Pad $28 - The best drawing pad! It comes in a few sizes and paper colors. And the pages can be torn out cleanly. It’s a great combination of function and beautiful design.

Bare Hands $42 - A great gift for those who don’t want to paint their nails but want them to look well taken care of. The citrine cuticle oil is a nice final touch. A warning, if you have thin or brittle nails, this might not be the gift for you, as it basically buffs some of the surface off.

Yeti Rambler $30 - I bought this Yeti Rambler for a Yankee Swap last year and ended up taking it home. I’m so glad! I use it regularly in the studio. It keeps drinks so hot or cold, and I even find myself using it around the house instead of normal mugs.

Wild Clay $38 - A great gift for potters who are looking to explore their own backyards for wild clay! I just got this book so I’ve yet to read it all, but so far I’m enjoying it.

Belkin Wireless Charger $25 - This was a gift from Patrick last Christmas, but it’s been one of my favorite new gadgets. I have one in the studio, and I can easily rest the phone down or pick it up. No cords to plug in or unplug.

Xiem Bat Mate $17 - 12” - If your bats are always wiggling around, preventing you from centering properly, pick up this Bat Mate! It will save you from buying new bats all the time. Or if you are part of a community studio with old bats, this will be a life saver.

Postalco 2023 Wall Calendar $18 - I love this minimal large wall calendar for keeping track of my long term projects and plans. I can see how the year is going at a glance. Plus it will look great in any studio.

Yamazaki Tosca Caddy $35 - I’m in love with Yamazaki Home’s products. This desk organizer in particular would make a great, sleek tool caddy if you need to carry your tools. The open design will prevent molding, and the sections can allow you to sort your things. As a gift, you could even fill it with some individually wrapped pottery tools and put a cute bow on top!

The Ceramic Bible $36 - This book has been a go-to for me for years, and they just came out with a revised version this year. It’s a perfect book for those just getting into pottery beyond just a brief hobby.

Ito Bindery Notebook $24 - I have three of these grid-lined notebooks. One for my sketches and ideas, one to keep track of business stuff, and one for my non-pottery note-taking. And when they’re full, I’ll be buying more!

Lid Calipers $30 - If you only have a one sided caliper, you need to get these. Especially if you’re making lidded items. It’s a great tool to have when you need it.

Brass Rib Set $36 - Samuel Sparrow brass ribs are so beautiful and well made. I have two myself and it took me a while to use them because they’re almost too pretty to dirty! They’re definitely a gift-worthy tool!
